The Dallas Stars have now made qualifying offers to a total of eight unrestricted free agents, adding two players to their previous list by making qualifying offers to Jamie Benn and Philip Larsen. They join Richard Bachman, Mark Fistric and Ryan Garbutt as NHL roster players who have received qualifying offers from the team.
The other three RFAs who have received offers from the Stars are currently in the AHL system. That group includes Jamie Benn's younger brother, Jordie Benn.
A left wing, Jamie Benn finished the 2011-12 season with 63 points and 26 goals, both of which were tied for second best on the team. At 22 years old, he's expected to continue to improve and might tempt another team into making him a contract offer. Larsen, a defenseman, is also 22 years old and played in 55 games for the Stars this season. He has split time between the NHL and AHL over the last two seasons.
