On Sunday afternoon, the Minnesota Wild came to terms on a three-year contract worth $5.7 million with unrestricted free agent Torrey Mitchell. The 27-year old winger has spent the last eight seasons as a member of the San Jose Sharks franchise, which selected him with the No. 126 selection in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft.

The 5-foot-11, 190 pound center has registered 30 goals and 43 assists for 73 points in 280 career games in the NHL.

Mitchell has some history with Minnesota as he was involved in an incident with Wild defenseman Kurtis Foster in 2008 when the two players were tangled up while chasing a puck during an icing call. Both players lost their edges and Foster ended up breaking his femur, which left Mitchell shaken up over the event. Mitchell even visited Foster in the hospital to apologize.
