Nash's agent, Joe Resnick, shot down speculation that Nash injured his head, stressing instead that the nine-year veteran injured his shoulder, Dreger noted. Nash was taken off the ice for precautionary reasons and will be re-evaluated in a couple of days. He joined fellow NHL All-Star Joe Thornton in signing Sept. 17 with HC Davos, the same club that the pair played with during the 2004-05 NHL lockout.
Nash was traded from Columbus to the Rangers in July in a deal that sent forwards Brandon Dubinsky and Artem Anisimov, blue-line prospect Tim Erixon and a first-round pick to the Blue Jackets. The wing was one of the NHL's hottest offseason trade-market commodities and has relocated to New York after spending nine seasons as a member of the Blue Jackets.
Nash played in 82 games for Columbus last season and scored 30 goals while notching 29 assists.
