Canucks vs. Canadiens: Canucks score goal on themselves

This deserves a slow clap.

Rich Lam

The Vancouver Canucks might have just set the standard for ridiculous own goals, scoring on themselves in the second period on Saturday for the Montreal Canadiens.

The Canadiens sent the puck down the ice, successfully killing off a penalty, and the Canucks gave chase. While Canadiens made wholesale line changes, the Canucks skated into the corner to reset. And then all of their brains went to screensaver mode or something.

Wow. There's so many things there to point and laugh at, but Roberto Luongo falling down makes for a great ending to a hilarious play. The goal gave the Canadiens a 2-1 lead heading into the third period.
