Steve Oleksy loses skate blade, falls down a lot

Playing ice hockey without a blade in your ice skate is not fun.

There are few things more awkward in an NHL game than that rare moment when a player loses a skate blade and tries to get off the ice.

It's like watching a puppy try to run across a freshly waxed floor.

Steve Oleksy, defenseman for the Washington Capitals, suffered that misfortune in the first period of Monday's game against the Vancouver Canucks.

Tough break.
