Flames vs. Canucks: Joey MacDonald makes amazing stick save on Chris Higgins

He's your leader in the clubhouse for save of the year.

Sergei Belski-USA TODAY Sports

The Flames fell to the Canucks 5-4 in overtime on Sunday, but Calgary might have never gotten that far if not for an amazing save from Joey MacDonald in the third period.

The Canucks had tied the game at 3-3 by the time Chris Higgins found a gaping net and the puck on his stick at 8:40 of the third period. But MacDonald made a ridiculous stop with his stick to preserve the tie.

Vancouver scored later in the frame, but David Jones tied it for the Flames with 19 seconds left in the game. Mike Santorelli scored the overtime winner for the Canucks, but MacDonald's superb evening should not go unnoticed.
