The NHL will be announcing the parameters of a documentary series profiling the 2014 Stadium Series on Monday, according to Chris Botta of the Sports Business Journal.
Botta describes the show as being similar to HBO's "24/7" documentary program, which has profiled the buildup to the Winter Classic in recent years. HBO will profile the 2014 Winter Classic involving the Detroit Red Wings and Toronto Maple Leafs scheduled for New Year's Day. The NHL's documentary program will air on the CBC and Sportsnet in Canada, and NBC Sports Network in the United States.
Botta originally reported in September that the show would be an eight-part, all-access documentary series featuring the five teams taking part in the Stadium Series. In addition, he wrote that the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi could be included in the package.
The Stadium Series is scheduled to begin on Jan. 25 when the Anaheim Ducks face the Los Angeles Kings and will conclude on March 1 when the Chicago Blackhawks host the Pittsburgh Penguins.
