Ducks, Leafs trade: Peter Holland sent to Toronto for Jesse Blacker

The Maple Leafs found a temporary solution at center on Saturday.

USA TODAY Sports

Starved for a center, the Toronto Maple Leafs acquired Peter Holland and Brad Staubitz from the Anaheim Ducks on Saturday in exchange for defenseman Jesse Blacker and draft picks.

The Ducks receive Toronto's 2014 third-round pick and Anaheim's 2014 seventh-round pick, which was sent to Toronto for Dave Steckel.

Holland fills a serious need for the Maple Leafs, who are woefully thin down the middle thanks to injuries and suspensions. Tyler Bozak and Dave Bolland are both sidelined with long-term injuries and Nazem Kadri was suspended on Friday for the next three games.

Holland has just one goal through four games this season, but Toronto will take all the help it can get. Blacker was assigned to the Ducks' AHL affiliate in Norfolk, and Staubitz was assigned to the Toronto Marlies.
