Zach Parise was credited with blocked shot in Minnesota's 3-0 loss to St. Louis on Monday night, and it proved to be a costly one.
The Wild announced on Tuesday evening that Parise suffered a left foot contusion when he stood in front of an Alexander Steen slapshot and will be out two to three weeks as a result. He briefly returned to the game after the block but ended up playing just 11 minutes in the loss.
The 29-year-old Parise is in the second year of a 13-year, $98 million contract he signed in free agency prior to the 2012-13 season. He's off to a tremendous start, scoring 11 goals to go with 11 assists in Minnesota's first 25 games. He leads the team in points and shots on goal and has been a dominant possession player with Wild attempting nearly 60 percent of the even-strength shot attempts with him on the ice.
Minnesota is currently tied for the third place in the Central Division with the Colorado Avalanche at 34 points apiece.
The Wild have a rough stretch of games coming up over the next three weeks with games against Colorado (two), San Jose (two), Chicago, Anaheim and Phoenix.
