Although the Philadelphia Flyers have turned their season around somewhat in the last few weeks, they still trail much of the NHL in most offensive categories. Perhaps no play better exemplifies the Flyers' luck this season than Wayne Simmonds' near-goal on Saturday.
With the Flyers on the power play in Nashville, Simmonds positioned himself right in the Predators' crease. The puck found its way behind the net and rested on the goal line. All Simmonds had to to was tap it in.
And then the puck danced.
Yeesh. If that's not a sign of the hockey gods messing around, I don't know what is.
