Winter Olympics 2014: Officiating crews announced for Sochi

The International Ice Hockey Federation has released the officiating crews for the 2014 Sochi Olympics.

With the Olympic trial period entering its final month, much attention will be paid to players on the bubble pushing for spots on their respective national teams. For officials, that time has passed as the International Ice Hockey Federation officially announced the authoritative presence at the 2014 Sochi Olympics on Monday morning.

The crews were selected based upon physical conditioning, performance in championship rounds and their ability to work with a team. IIHF Officiating Manager Konstantin Komissarov stated that communication skills was a category that carried a great deal of weight in the selection process given the diverse nature of the Olympic games. With players and officials coming together from all over the world (I.E. language barriers), an official's ability to communicate effectively becomes paramount.

In total, 13 officials from the NHL were selected for the 2014 Men's Tournament in Sochi. Here's a complete breakdown of the referees and linesmen for the Men's and Women's Tournaments, via the IIHF:
