Things were going quite well for the Predators by the end of the first period. Nashville chased the previously red-hot Sergei Bobrovsky out of the net by scoring four goals on just 11 shots to grab a a comfy 4-1 lead. And then Rich Clune did a very Rich Clune thing.
Clune left his feet to deliver a huge hit on Artem Anisimov well after Anisimov had given up possession of the puck. Anisimov was flattened and sustained a pretty nasty cut under his eye on the play. Clune was immediately given a 5-minute major for interference and a 10-minute game misconduct. Columbus's long power play didn't affect the outcome, however, as the Predators took a 5-2 win.
