Max Talbot injury: Philadelphia center suffers leg injury

Talbot was injured after Mike Green dodged a hit. Was he cut?

Eric Hartline-USA TODAY Sports

Just moments after scoring a huge goal to tie the game between the Washington Capitals and the Philadelphia Flyers at two, Washington defenseman Mike Green dodged a hit from Maxime Talbot, and somehow Talbot ended up injured on the play.

Watch the entire sequence unfold here. The action will begin in the upper-right corner.

It's tough to tell exactly what caused the injury but, as the broadcasters speculate, it looks as if there is a chance Green's skate might have cut the back of Talbot's leg. It's very clear that Talbot can't put any weight at all on his leg, so whatever happened must have been serious.

If Talbot hadn't have gotten hurt on this play, the focus might have been on the fact that the hit was late and appeared to be targeting Green's knees. As it is, that detail will take a back seat to Talbot's health. The Flyers haven't released any details about the injury yet, but just from how it looked it would be a surprise if he returned in the third period.

The 29-year-old Talbot has four goals and five assist through 34 games this season for the Flyers.
