Meet Francis Lessard of the Cornwall River Kings and Sebastien Laferriere of Sorel-Tracy HC Carvena. The teams play in the notorious Ligue Nord-Américaine de Hockey, the closest thing we have to the fictitious Federal League of Slap Shot lore.
In short, there's a lot of fighting and not much hockey played in LNAH, so much so that the league website has its own section set aside for suspensions. Fans come to the rink with the expectation of seeing blood.
With that context in mind, let's look at last week's fight between Laferriere and Lessard:
Rightfully so, both were given two minute minor penalties for delay of game. They actually fought the second they stepped out of the box.
