The fire sale is well underway in Buffalo.
The Los Angeles Kings traded a pair of draft picks to the Buffalo Sabres for veteran defenseman Robyn Regehr on Monday night, according to TSN's Darren Dreger. Regehr had to waive his no-trade clause for the deal to go through.
Regehr comes with a $4.02 million cap hit this year, but will become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the season. He'll provide some veteran leadership to a Kings squad that has struggled defensively more than they did in their Stanley Cup-winning season in 2012, especially as of late.
As for Buffalo, they've now shipped off both of their impending free agent defenseman in exchange for valuable draft picks. Could captain Jason Pominville be next on the chopping block?
