Kings vs. Blues Game 2 Update: Dustin Brown scores

Kings' captain Dustin Brown opened the scoring against the Blues.

USA TODAY Sports

The Los Angeles Kings are off to a good start as they look to even up their playoff series against the St. Louis Blues. They scored the only goal of the first period after Dustin Brown deflected a shot from Mike Richards past goaltender Brian Elliott. It was a five-on-three power-play goal, scored after Ryan Reaves and Barret Jackman both took penalties for St. Louis.

Anze Kopitar picked up the secondary assist on the goal.

Dustin Brown would also be a factor later in the period, after he stuck his leg out to trip Jaden Schwartz:

Brown took a two-minute penalty for tripping on this play, but St. Louis couldn't convert on the power play.

The Kings led in shots 12-7 at the first intermission.
