Red Wings vs. Blackhawks Game 7 recap: Chicago wins in OT

The third period of Game 7 between the Detroit Red Wings and the Chicago Blackhawks began with the Blackhawks holding a 1-0 lead, but the Red Wings tied the game just 26 seconds in on a goal from Henrik Zetterberg:

The Red Wings had some of their best pressure of the game in the opening minutes of the third, and the Blackhawks fell back on their heels. As the period progressed, the two teams were fairly even, but Chicago thought they had the go-ahead goal in the final minutes:

Unfortunately for the Blackhawks, the goal was disallowed due to a whistle for coincidental minor penalties that came just prior to the shot. Regulation ended with the score tied, 1-1.

3:35 into overtime, the Blackhawks scored again — and this time it counted:

Brent Seabrook scored the game winner, and the Blackhawks eliminated the Red Wings in seven games.

Can Jimmy Howard recapture the magic?

Howard had more work than Corey Crawford in Game 7, and made 33 saves on 35 shots. He wasn't the reason the Red Wings came up short.

Will Pavel Datsyuk and Henrik Zetterberg wake up?

Zetterberg had the only goal of the game for the Red Wings. Datsyuk didn't do anything.

Can the Blackhawks' penalty kill keep it up?

Chicago didn't allow a power-play goal in Game 7, which means they have now killed an incredible 40 of 41 penalties this postseason.

The Blackhawks will play Game 1 of their third-round series against the Kings on Saturday in Chicago.
