The timing seemed perfect for Roberto Luongo. Team Canada will soon announce its Olympic roster, and having missed three games with an injured groin, Luongo returned Saturday night in spectacular fashion, turning back 46 shots in a loss to the Los Angeles Kings.
But one night later, with the Canucks set to do battle with the Pacific-leading Ducks, Luongo is out again, per Dan Murphy of Sportsnet.
#canucks have signed goalie Rob Laurie to a PTO and tonight he will be backing up Eddie Lack. Luongo is out.

It's a tough blow for both Luongo and the Canucks, and certainly presents an interesting question for the Team Canada hockey brass, who will have to choose three goaltenders to bring to Sochi. Murphy also reported that the Luongo injury may have occurred on this Dustin Brown goal.
The end of the play where Brown and Luongo collide certainly makes for an awkward position where Luongo's legs get caught under him.
