The game between the Anaheim Ducks and San Jose Sharks has gone off the rails.
The spark that started the fire was this high-stick to the face of Sami Vatanen by Scott Hannan:
Instead of Anaheim going to the power play, the officials handed out matching minor penalties because they believed that Vatanen was embellishing. This was probably because of how his head snapped back, which was probably because he got the toe of a stick blade right in the face.
Surprisingly, the Ducks were not pleased with this decision and felt they were due a power play.
The ensuing faceoff resulted in an aggressive sequence of plays that resulted in Mirco Mueller and Ryan Getzlaf dropping the gloves, as well as this funny dance by Mueller:
This appeared to enrage Getzlaf even further, who looked like he wanted to rip Mueller's face off:
The refs, however, would not allow the two players to fight (and subsequently would not allow Corey Perry and Tommy Wingels to fight later in the period).
All of this ultimately resulted in a goal by Marc-Edouard Vlasic mere seconds after the Getzlaf-Mueller fight didn't happen:
Which left Bruce Boudreau feeling like this:
Yeah, I hear that, man.
The Sharks currently lead the Ducks, 3-0.
