Bob McKenzie is a treasure.
Not only is he the preeminent information man in hockey, but he's also got jokes! At Mike Milbury's expense!
McKenzie comes south on a weekly basis to inform United States hockey fans and play the foil to Milbury. Wednesday, McKenzie and Milbury were discussing the Toronto Maple Leafs and all the drama that has emerged in the wake of consecutive blowout losses.
Milbury, as he does, criticized everyone and questioned their credentials. He also lamented how Brendan Shanahan was able to jump right into the role of president without being a coach or general manager. Milbury, a former general manager, wished he could have made the same jump.
That's when McKenzie strikes.
In case you don't know, Milbury was the general manager of the New York Islanders and is viewed universally as a terrible GM.
Here's a brief list of notable players he traded away:
* Zdeno Chara
* Roberto Luongo
* Wade Redden
* The No. 2 overall selection in the 2001 Draft, which eventually became Jason Spezza
Here's a brief list of notable players he brought into the organization:
* Alexei Yashin
* Rick DiPietro
Everyone is saying, "thank you" to Bob McKenzie right now.
