Tyler Seguin notches hat trick against San Jose Sharks

Seguin is on the verge of breaking one of Mike Modano's records.

Tyler Seguin isn't even halfway through his second season in Dallas and he's already approaching records held by Stars legend Mike Modano.

Seguin scored three goals again on Saturday against the San Jose Sharks, his fifth hat trick since he was traded to Dallas two summers ago. Mike Modano holds the Dallas Stars record with six hat tricks.

Seguin sort of lucked into his first goal, as a tipped shot from Sergei Gonchar deflected off his shoulder past Alex Stalock to get the Stars on the board. His second goal was much more assured, picking up a rolling puck and sniping it over Stalock's shoulder in one impressive motion.

The window was wide open for his hat trick goal, as a rebound off Stalock left a huge gap for Seguin to shoot the puck into. It's pretty amazing how quickly Seguin is becoming a superstar in Dallas.
