Anaheim Ducks forward Corey Perry left the game against the Minnesota Wild on Friday night after this low-bridge hit from Wild defenseman Keith Ballard.
The Ducks were on a power play after Jason Zucker took an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty and Perry was intercepted by Ballard on a rush up the boards. Ballard delivered a hip check but got low enough to cut off Perry at the knees.
While Perry went up in the air and down hard on the ice, he needed help off and put no weight on his left leg.
Ballard has made a history of delivering big hip checks and Michael Russo of The Star Tribune gave his thoughts.
Corey Perry in the back and was in anguish. Ballard's been doing that for years...Clean
