The Tampa Bay Lightning entered play on Tuesday facing elimination, and after falling into a 2-0 hole in Game 4 frustration started to take over. Nowhere was this more obvious than with captain Steven Stamkos, who had a bit of a meltdown after he was called for hooking Alexei Emelin early in the second period.
After the penalty, Stamkos took a swing at the Canadiens' defenseman and then started punching the penalty box glass.
Stamkos was injured on Sunday in Tampa Bay's Game 3 loss when he was kneed in the head by Emelin.
The Lightning ended up scoring a short-handed goal on the ensuing penalty kill in an effort to get back into the game. Unfortunately for them, they quickly gave it right back when Brendan Gallagher put Montreal back up by two, forcing the Lightning to pull starting goalie Anders Lindback in favor of rookie Kristers Gudlevskis.
