Toronto Maple Leafs coach Mike Babcock hasn't been afraid to use his coach's challenge so far this season. But when he loses, refs should beware his rage.
On Friday in New York, the Maple Leafs appeared to tie the game at 1-1 in the third period when a shot beat Rangers goalie Henrik Lundqvist through his five hole. But the referees quickly disallowed the score, claiming Maple Leafs forward Joffrey Lupul interfered with Lundqvist's ability to make the save.
Babcock immediately challenged, and you can understand why. It's hard to get any goals past Lundqvist in the first place, and it didn't look like Lupul's skate interfered with the goalie's skate enough to interfere with him.
The referees disagreed, however, and the Leafs lost the challenge. Mike Babcock's reaction was terrifying.
He went full Jekyll & Hyde!
