The 2015 NHL All-Star Game voting sensation apparently doesn't want a repeat performance this time around.
Last season, Buffalo Sabres rookie winger Zemgus Girgensons was the runaway vote-getter in the All-Star Game voting thanks to a huge campaign in his home country. The Latvian winger earned 1,574,896 votes, which is more than half the entire population of Latvia. Girgenson's voting rampage was random and awesome.
And it won't happen again this year, if he has anything to say about it.
Visu cieņu faniem, bet lūdzu šogad nebalsot par mani zvaigžņu spēlē! Šādas lietas ir jānopelna!
— Zemgus Girgensons (@zemgus94) December 2, 2015
For the few of you who don't speak Latvian, here's a translation:
With all due respect to fans, but please do not vote for me this year the star game! Such things must be earned!
He has a point, since he only has two goals and four points in 21 games this year. But his pleas might not matter. John Scott's odd campaign is proof NHL fans will stop at nothing to pull off their funny bits.
