The new 3-on-3 overtime is many things, but most of all it is unforgiving. One mistake will usually lead to certain defeat.
Daniel Sedin and the Vancouver Canucks learned this lesson on Saturday. It was late in the overtime period against the Tampa Bay Lightning, and the Sedin twins were at the end of a very long shift. Daniel apparently was too exhausted to pay attention to where the puck was, because as soon as he raised his arm and skated to the bench, Nikita Kucherov blew past him and scored the game-winner.
Whoops. Remember, kids: always line change responsibly.
