Chris Kreider celebrated a goal by hugging the referee instead of his teammates

It doesn’t get much better than this, really.

Chris Kreider has had himself one great hockey game through two periods for the New York Rangers.

So far, the Rangers forward has:

  • dished an assist on the second Rangers goal, which gave them the lead.
  • scored a stellar goal that put New York on top of the Sharks, 3-1, from a pretty impossible angle.
  • celebrated all of this by skating right over to the referee to give him a big hug.

Don’t believe me? See it for yourself.

Oh, and here’s the goal, too, although it’s nowhere near as good as that hug.

Still great, but nothing can beat that hug. What a gorgeous little hockey moment.
