If Sean Monahan was standing just a few centimeters to the right, this beautiful play would not have counted. Thankfully Dougie Hamilton threw down a perfect stretch pass to Monahan at the blue line that set up the Flames fifth goal of the evening against the Blues.
Stretch passes are hard to do nowadays unless they're timed perfectly, and this one absolutely was. Hamilton caught St. Louis changing and Monahan was waiting for the 80-foot pass in just the right spot.
From there, it was off to the races for Monahan for his second goal of the period. All thanks to one well-timed stretch pass from Hamilton.
