Devils goaltender saves his own clearing mistake with sliding pad stop

Smooth recovery, Kinkaid.

When goaltenders leave their nets, shenanigans often ensue. We were close to having another d'oh moment from a netminder this season, but Keith Kinkaid of the Devils was able to bail himself out of this one.

While Kinkaid didn't get enough air on the puck to get it out of the zone, the New Jersey defender along the boards did him no favors either with the lazy recovery. The forechecking Jordan Schroeder almost had a goal for the Wild, but Kinkaid had enough sense to recognize the danger and smoothly slide on over to get the puck with his pad.

Crisis averted.
