The idea that it doesn't matter how pretty a goal is as long as it's a goal apparently applies to scores off of dangles and dekes.
Buffalo Sabres forward Marcus Foligno bucked conventional wisdom on Thursday with a shorthanded goal full of imperfect stick skills. With his team on the penalty kill, Foligno caught the Calgary Flames on a line change, charged forward and dipsy-doodled through a defender to score.
Was it the slickest pair of dekes you'll ever see? No. But it was pretty (and effective) enough.
