The Detroit Red Wings will try to avoid a 3-0 series deficit when they host the Tampa Bay Lightning at home in Game 3 of the 2016 Stanley Cup playoffs first round Sunday. Puck drop is at 7 p.m. ET on CNBC and the CBC.
Scouting the Lightning
The biggest key for Tampa Bay might be discipline. The Red Wings are a caged animal backed into a corner, and they're likely try to draw Tampa Bay over the line to gain any kind of advantage. You saw a bit of that at the end of Game 2 with a line brawl. The Lightning are playing well, but keeping focus is still paramount. Ben Bishop is expected to start in goal yet again.
Scouting the Red Wings
The same mantra of discipline applies to the Red Wings, who are trending in the wrong direction and can't afford any mistakes. To avoid a 3-0 deficit, the Red Wings need to find a way to contain Tyler Johnson. The small but skilled Tampa Bay center had six goals against Detroit in last year's playoffs, and he already has six points in two games in this series. The other thing to watch is how long Jimmy Howard's leash is after giving up five goals in Game 2.
