Leave it to Alex Ovechkin to make NHL history and reach a milestone in dramatic fashion.
The Washington Capitals' captain needed three goals in his second to last regular season game Saturday to reach 50 goals on the season. He got all three and became just the third player since Wayne Gretzky and Mike Bossy to reach that plateau seven times.
His first came in the first period, answering St. Louis Blues forward Vladimir Tarasenko's goal with one of his own.

His second came, of course, off a set play in the offensive zone.

And he finished it off with a sweet one-timer off a rush late in the game.
