Predators rookie somehow keeps playing after leg appears to bend the wrong way

Colton Sissons did not return to the game.

An otherwise encouraging Game 3 for the Nashville Predators turned concerning when one of their rookies exited with a gruesome injury.

Midway through the third period, Predators forward Colton Sissons tried to beat a Sharks defender and netminder Martin Jones to a loose puck. He won, but Jones made the save and Sisson's leg hit the net post and bent in a horrible way.

Note: if you're squeamish about legs seemingly bending the wrong way maybe these following GIFs aren't for you. Just a heads up.

Sissons was in obvious pain and couldn't bear to get to his feet for a few moments. With help from a trainer and a teammate, he managed to leave the ice without putting any weight on his injured leg. But somehow he returned later in the third period and resumed skating. He's incredibly lucky or incredibly bionic.
