Live microphones are the menace of every reporter, performer, and television station. There’s a saying I once learned while doing school theater: If you’ve got a microphone on you, expect it to be hot.
Well, hockey referee Frederick L'Ecuyer found out first-hand what it means to be caught with a live mic after dropping f-bombs to a player in the Blue Jackets vs. Predators game.

L'Ecuyer stopped announcing a penalty to curse out an unspecified player, and the entire arena heard thanks to the live mic.
It’s okay, ref, everyone gets caught on hot mics sooner or later.
