It’s the holiday season, and that means it’s the time for P.K. Subban to embrace the Christmas spirit yet again. Every winter, the Nashville Predators defenseman goes out of his way to do something really incredible for children in need, and this year was no different.
Subban dressed up as “Eddie,” basically a goofy old version of himself, to help prepare a special day for a family he met through Blueline Buddies, a charitable organization he established with the Predators in 2016. With some help from teammate Roman Josi, they opened presents, shared dinner, and had an all-around incredible day. (Although my favorite part was probably when the kid immediately recognized P.K. through all the makeup.)
And at the end of the video, Subban showed he hasn’t forgotten his “friends at the Montreal Children’s Hospital” by sending them a massive box full of presents. Back in 2015, when Subban was still a member of the Montreal Canadiens, he donated $10 million to the hospital, then helped celebrate the holidays with a beautiful Christmas party.
While Subban isn’t in Montreal anymore, he showed how genuine his support of the Children’s Hospital is, and how much he cares about those kids, by remembering to surprise them this year, too.
And last year, Subban took a group of Nashville children on the “Subban Sleigh” for a ride through the city and a shopping spree.
There’s so much to love about Subban as a player, but it’s what he does off the ice that makes him a superstar of the highest caliber. He’s never shied away from using his platform and success to help others in need, and he’s always done it with a big, shining smile on his face. It’s an infectious joy that a lot of people need around the holiday season, and Subban always brings it in addition to his time and money.
