We’ve seen many great saves in hockey, but you’d be hard pressed to think of a save better than this one from Andrei Vasilevskiy.
In the first period against the Los Angeles Kings, the Tampa Bay netminder broke out an impossible highlight-reel save on a penalty kill. Despite pressure in front of him in the crease, Vasilevskiy predicted Anze Kopitar’s shot from the side of the cage and perfectly placed his glove to stop him.
GRAND. THEFT. ANDREI.

Oh yeah, that happened.
Here’s the play in real time, for those wondering just how fast Vasilevskiy got his glove around behind his back to stop this puck.

The Lightning fans in attendance, rightfully, gave Vasilevskiy a standing ovation for his monster effort that kept Tampa Bay in the game. Vasilevskiy made 17 saves in the first period, but his behind-the-back stop will be the one to remember. Save of the year, anyone?
