This young Capitals fan had to work SO HARD to get a puck during warmups, and she finally did, and her reaction was amazing

The first two pucks tossed to her were ruthlessly stolen. The third time turned out to be the charm.

I hope you’ve now watched it. OK.

During warmups before the Capitals hosted the Blue Jackets in Game 2 of their Eastern Conference quarterfinal on Sunday in Washington, Caps forward Brett Connolly made note of a young fan on the other side of the glass. She’s probably between 5 and 7 years old, and Connolly made it clear that he had designs on tossing her a warmup puck:

So Connolly went ahead and lightly tossed a puck over the glass. There were no holes in the glass through which he could’ve just handed it to her. And then one of the young boys next to her ruthlessly took the puck instead, leaving this youngster shellshocked:

This process then repeated, as Connolly made a second doomed effort to get her a puck. But history favors the perseverant, and both Connelly and this young fan stuck with it. On the third attempt, she got her hockey puck, and everything changed forever:

There’s a real chance that this is the most happiness any Washington, D.C., sports fan has ever felt during any of her sports teams’ playoff appearances.
