Bengals vs. Steelers, Week 15: Betting odds, pick, trends & preview

Pittsburgh does not appreciate being a home underdog and plays like it, rolling to an 8-2-1 ATS mark in 11 games like this. The Cincinnati Bengals are favored and the Odds Shark computer is picking them too.

The Pittsburgh Steelers find themselves as a rare home underdog Sunday night hosting the Cincinnati Bengals.

It has been a profitable situation for Pittsburgh bettors, as the Steelers are 7-4 SU and 8-2-1 ATS in its last 11 games as an underdog at home.

But the oddsmakers don't see it that way, opening the Bengals as slight chalk and pushing them up to -3 by midweek.

And neither does the Odds Shark NFL picks computer, which is projecting a 27-20 final for Cincinnati. The 47 projected points would buck an UNDER trend which has seen the past four meetings of these AFC North rivals played UNDER the total (currently 41).

After starting the season off 0-4 SU and ATS, the Steelers turned things around and got back into the playoff hunt with a 5-2 SU and ATS run. But with back-to-back losses to Baltimore and Miami, Pittsburgh has fallen to 5-8 SU and 6-7 ATS on the season.

With the 31st ranked rushing attack in the NFL averaging just 77.4 yards per game, the Steelers have relied too heavily on the passing game this season with mixed results.

With so many surprising teams around the NFL, one team that has seemingly flown under the radar all season is the Cincinnati Bengals, who are 9-4 SU and 8-4-1 ATS. Over their last nine games, the Bengals are 7-2 SU and 6-3 ATS, with both losses coming on the road in overtime.

Cincinnati is 3-0 SU and ATS over its last three games including an impressive blowout win over Indianapolis last week. And there are UNDER trends galore here, including the Bengals playing six UNDERs in past seven divisional games and the UNDER prevailing in 10 of 13 Steelers divisional games.

Pittsburgh is 5-2 SU and ATS over its last seven games against Cincinnati, but the Bengals have won each of the last two meetings between these two AFC North rivals including a 20-10 win in Cincinnati earlier this season. The UNDER is 5-1 the last six times these teams have met in Pittsburgh and 13-4 in Pittsburgh's last 17 home games overall.

Both teams still have plenty to play for in this game, with Pittsburgh needing to win out to keep its slim playoff hopes alive and Cincinnati still trying to earn a first-round bye. Cincinnati has been the better team overall this season, but the Bengals are just 3-4 SU and 2-4-1 ATS on the road.

Heinz Field is always a tough place to play, and that is especially true in December, making this a very intriguing division rivalry game in prime time.

Computer Prediction: 27-20 Bengals (from Odds Shark NFL picks page)
