England has suffered a long run of World Cup futility since they won the tournament as the host in 1966.
The Three Lions have a solid squad this time around with the likes of Wayne Rooney and Steven Gerrard, but they are drawn into a tough group and the goalkeeping is, once again, a big question.
They are hovering around 30-1 and 32-1 at most sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com.

England Odds to win Group D: +225
Rooney and Daniel Sturridge form a talented front line duo and the midfield is solid, but can the defense hold up with keeper Joe Hart? He had an up and down season at Manchester City and he will be counted on to be the anchor of the defense.
They have not looked impressive in losing two of their last three World Cup tune-ups and they are not favored by odds makers to win their group this summer.
World Cup Prediction for England
While England is not playing in the Group of Death they are in a tough group with Italy, Uruguay, and Costa Rica. They should have no problems facing Costa Rica, but the midfield of Italy has to be a concern, as does the offense of Uruguay.
England will play well in those matches. While they may not win both, they will have enough points to make it out of group play. They also may win the round of 16 match, but advancing further is a tall order.
How England got to the World Cup
England went undefeated in their European qualifying group and that was a solid feat considering the good teams of Ukraine and Poland was in the group. Still, Ukraine was the toughest squad in the group and they played to two draws facing them.
Overall, England had six wins and four draws in the qualification process. In winning three of their last four matches they combined for 10 goals.

Team Key Players
Wayne Rooney FW Manchester United - He is one of the best strikers in the world when he is in form, which he will have to be this summer for England to progress far.
Steven Gerrard MF Liverpool - He is the veteran leader of the Four Lions and his play in the midfield is key, especially facing Italy in group play.
Joe Hart GK Manchester City - He can be great when he is one, but tends to disappear at times and he cannot do that like he did in the middle of this Premier League season when he was benched for poor play.
