MLB playoffs odds 2016: Wild Card Games kick off baseball's postseason betting slate this week

The MLB playoffs begin this week with Baltimore at Toronto on Tuesday and San Francisco at New York on Wednesday in the Wild Card Games.

The Baltimore Orioles enter the postseason with a 6-3 record in their last nine games on the road. The Orioles will visit the Toronto Blue Jays on Tuesday in the AL Wild Card Game.

Baltimore is a +135 underdog on the MLB lines with Chris Tillman taking the mound at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. Marcus Stroman will start for the Blue Jays, who are -150 favorites to advance at home.

These two AL East rivals have split their last 30 games, 15-15, setting the stage for an even matchup. The Orioles are 4-0 in Chris Tillman's last four starts against the Blue Jays.

The winner of this game will take on the Texas Rangers in the next round. Texas finished with the best record in the American League at 95-67 and is going off at +500 on the odds to win the World Series.

On Wednesday, the NL Wild Card Game will be played in New York as Madison Bumgarner and the Giants take on Noah Syndergaard and the Mets.

San Francisco is 4-0 in its last four games overall, and 6-1 in its last seven postseason games with Bumgarner getting the start. The Mets finished the season on a 7-3 SU run and were 2-1 in Syndergaard's three postseason starts last year.

The Chicago Cubs await the winner of the NL Wild Card Game. Chicago was the only team to get to 100 wins this season with a record of 103-58, and simulations run by website PredictionMachine.com give the Cubs a league-best 27.6 percent chance of ending their drought and winning the World Series this fall.

The other American League Division Series starts on Thursday in Cleveland as the Indians host the Boston Red Sox. Even with home-field advantage, the Indians are a +125 underdog in Game 1 sending Trevor Bauer to the mound against Rick Porcello and the Red Sox (-135).

Going against an offense as strong as Boston's, Cleveland will badly miss injured starters Danny Salazar and Carlos Carrasco.

The other National League Division Series gets underway on Friday with Clayton Kershaw and the Dodgers going off as -135 road favorites over Max Scherzer and the Nationals at +125. Los Angeles is just 1-5 in Kershaw's last six postseason starts.
