Broncos vs. Chiefs odds: Desperate Denver a road underdog at Kansas City on Sunday night

The Denver Broncos will try to keep their playoff hopes alive with a road win at the rival Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday night.

The Denver Broncos are 6-1 against the spread in their last seven road games against the Kansas City Chiefs and 5-0 straight up in their last five road games in this series. The Broncos are fighting for their playoff lives this Sunday night on the road against Kansas City.

Denver is a 3.5-point road underdog at Arrowhead Stadium at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. In their last nine games against the Chiefs, the Broncos are 7-2 SU with all seven of those wins coming by a touchdown or more.

The Broncos showed no punch at all on offense last Sunday against the New England Patriots, scoring only three points in a 16-3 loss at home.

The defense did its part in holding one of the league's best offenses in check, but another lackluster game by the offense dropped Denver's record to 4-6 SU and ATS over its last 10 games. Now, Denver may need to win out and get help from around the AFC to advance to the postseason.

The defending champions have fared well as a small underdog in recent seasons. The Broncos are 9-3 SU and ATS in their last 12 games as an underdog of 4.5 points or less per the OddsShark NFL Database.

Betting Line / Total: Kansas City -3.5 / 37.5 Points

Trend: The Broncos are 6-1 ATS in their last seven games on the road against the Chiefs.

Trend: The total has gone UNDER in eight of the Chiefs' last 10 games.

Kansas City entered last Sunday on an 8-1 SU and 6-3 ATS run over its previous nine games, having just taken over control of its own destiny in the AFC West with a win over the Oakland Raiders.

But with a surprising 19-17 home loss to Tennessee as a 6-point underdog, the Chiefs have fallen back into fifth place in the AFC standings. The Chiefs would clinch a playoff spot on Christmas Day with a Baltimore loss or a win over Denver. Kansas City is 10-2 SU in its last 12 games at home.

Sunday night's total is set at 37.5 points. The UNDER is 8-2 in Kansas City's last 10 games.

Denver will be more desperate for a win on Sunday night, and the Broncos have had plenty of recent success in Kansas City. But regardless of who comes out on top, points will likely be hard to come by as two of the league's top defenses clash in this rivalry matchup.
