Tulsa vs. Ohio State 2016 odds: Buckeyes get home tune-up as big favorite

Urban Meyer and the Ohio State Buckeyes will be a heavy betting favorite at home on Saturday afternoon hosting the Tulsa Golden Hurricane.

Greg Bartram-USA TODAY Sports

The Ohio State Buckeyes are 26-1 straight up and 16-11 against the spread over their last 27 games. The Buckeyes will be big favorites to pick up another win at home this Saturday afternoon hosting the Tulsa Golden Hurricane.

Ohio State is a 28.5-point home favorite for Saturday at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. While the Buckeyes have won each of their last 10 games as a favorite of 20 points or more, they are just 2-8 ATS over that stretch.

The Buckeyes didn't have any trouble at all covering the spread as a 27.5-point favorite last Saturday, demolishing the Bowling Green Falcons 77-10 at home. Criticized for calling the game too conservatively on offense in last season's shocking 17-14 home loss to Michigan State, Urban Meyer has been getting the most out of his offense since with 54.3 points per game and a 3-0 SU and ATS record over the Buckeyes' last three games.

Including last Saturday's win, the Buckeyes are now 7-1 SU and 6-2 ATS in their last eight games overall per the OddsShark College Football Database.

Betting Line / Total: Ohio State -28.5 / 73.5 Points

Trend: Ohio State is 2-8 ATS in its last 10 games at home.

Trend: Tulsa is 7-0 ATS in its last seven games on the road.

The Golden Hurricane were just a 4-point favorite last Saturday at home against San Jose State, but they breezed to a cover with a 45-10 win. Tulsa has scored at least 45 points in each of its last three games, going 2-1 SU and 3-0 ATS over that stretch.

Tulsa has had success running its offense on the road in recent seasons as well, averaging 35.1 points per game over its last seven road games to go 7-0 ATS. Ohio State's defense could be tested by this fast-paced attack.

Saturday's total is set at 73.5 points. The OVER is 9-2 in Tulsa's last 11 games played in the month of September.

This has the potential to be a fun game to watch. While Ohio State's edge in talent makes an outright upset unlikely, Tulsa's high-powered offense could keep this game interesting if it is able to find its footing at Ohio Stadium. The total in this game is the third highest on the board this week as bookmakers predict plenty of fireworks on offense.
