Kansas City Chiefs
The Pittsburgh Steelers just seem to have Kansas City's number. The Chiefs fell to 5-1 SU and ATS on the season with their loss to Pittsburgh, losing to the Steelers for the third straight time since the start of the 2016 season.
Since Sept. 25 of last year, Kansas City is 0-3 SU and ATS against Pittsburgh and 16-2 SU and 14-4 ATS against all other opponents. Kansas City was the last remaining undefeated team in the NFL before suffering its loss on Sunday.
While the Chiefs may not be able to solve the Steelers, they haven't had much trouble solving the Raiders in recent years. Kansas City is 11-3 SU and ATS in its last 14 road games against Oakland per the OddsShark NFL Database.
Oakland Raiders
The Raiders seemed to have picked up where they left off in 2016 when they stormed out of the gate with a 2-0 SU and ATS record. But since then, Oakland is 0-4 SU and ATS, failing to take advantage of Derek Carr's return in last Sunday's 17-16 loss to the Los Angeles Chargers.
After averaging 35.5 points per game through the team's first two games, the offense has averaged only 13.3 points per game over the team's current losing streak. Oakland is 6-16 SU in its last 22 night games.
Thursday night's total is set at 47 points. The OVER is 6-1 in Oakland's last seven games at home.
With the way the Chiefs played in their first five games of the season, it would seem like an overreaction to worry too much about last week's dud performance against Pittsburgh. Kansas City should be much more comfortable this week against a struggling opponent that it has enjoyed plenty of recent success against.
