Golden State Warriors
The Warriors entered the all-star break off a 123-117 road loss to the Portland Trail Blazers, dropping to a pedestrian 4-4 SU and ATS over their last eight games. This recent slump, coupled with the Houston Rockets going 10-0 over their last 10 games, has bumped the Warriors out of first place in the Western Conference by half a game. Given how good Houston has looked this season, getting home court back should be a high motivator for the Warriors down the stretch.
In their last three games as a double-digit favorite, the Warriors are a perfect 3-0 SU and ATS per the OddsShark NBA Database. Golden State was 1-6-1 ATS in its previous eight games as a double-digit favorite.
Los Angeles Clippers
The Clippers traded their top star Blake Griffin at the end of January, but that hasn’t stopped the team from playing well. Los Angeles is 7-2 SU and ATS over its last nine games, and since Christmas are 17-7 SU and 15-9 ATS. Lou Williams is enjoying a career year as the centerpiece of Los Angeles’ offense, averaging a career high 32.4 minutes per game and 23.2 points per game.
Thursday’s total is set at 232.5. The OVER is 6-0 in the last six games between the Warriors and Clippers.
With Golden State focused on regaining its lead in the Western Conference and playing this game at home, an outright upset by the Clippers is probably far too much to ask. But Los Angeles has been playing well this month, and with a 4-2 ATS record in its last six trips to Oakland, keeping this one within 10.5 points is certainly well within reason.
