The Villanova Wildcats are 10-1 straight up and against the spread in their last 11 games against the Xavier Musketeers. The Wildcats’ consistent success against the conference’s top seed could be a big reason why Villanova is going off as the favorite on the odds to win the Big East Tournament.

Villanova is a -110 favorite to win the Big East Tournament at sportsbooks monitored by OddsShark.com. At regular season’s end, Villanova sits at No. 2 in the AP Top 25, narrowly edging out Xavier at No. 3. The Wildcats ended the season with an impressive 27-4 SU and 19-11-1 ATS record, but three of the team’s four losses came over its last eight games in a stretch that Villanova went 3-5 ATS on the Vegas lines.

To win the conference tournament, the Wildcats will need to shore up a defense that has been a bit shaky down the stretch. Villanova awaits the winner of Wednesday’s matchup between Marquette (+2500 to win the Big East) and DePaul (+10000).

Xavier (+230) matched Villanova’s 27-4 SU record this season while going 20-11 ATS. The Musketeers have more momentum than the Wildcats heading into the tournament on a 12-1 SU and 8-5 ATS run, but that one loss came in a 95-79 blowout loss at home to Villanova.

Barring the Wildcats getting upset before the final, Xavier will need to solve this team to win its first ever Big East Conference Tournament. The Musketeers meet the winner of Wednesday’s Georgetown (+5000) vs. St. John’s (+5000) game in the quarterfinals.

Despite the fact that they are entering this tournament as the sixth seed, the Butler Bulldogs are going off as the third most likely team to win the title at +700. Butler ended its regular season on a 2-5 SU and ATS skid, but it does have one of the conference’s best pure scorers in senior Kelan Martin. Martin averaged 21.2 points per game this season and is the type of player that can take over a tournament if he gets hot.

Butler meets Seton Hall (+800) in the quarterfinals on Thursday and are on Villanova’s side of the bracket. If Xavier advances into the semifinals, it will face the winner of Wednesday’s quarterfinal matchup of Creighton (+800) vs. Providence (+1600).
