Golden Knights at Capitals OddsShark Matchup Report

Vegas Golden Knights

For the first time this postseason the Golden Knights looked low on energy in Game 3. After dominating the first three round of this postseason with their speed and relentless forecheck, the Golden Knights have been held mostly at bay over their last two games, managing only 22 shots on goal on Saturday.

Vegas will need to ramp up its intensity in Game 4 if it hopes to match the level of its opponent and take back home ice advantage heading into Game 5.

The Golden Knights have been excellent at snapping losing streaks in their inaugural season, going 8-3 in 11 games coming off consecutive losses.

Washington Capitals

Evgeny Kuznetsov was questionable heading into Game 3 after leaving Game 2 early with an upper-body injury. Fortunately for the Capitals, Kuznetsov was able to play in Game 3, and he made quite an impact with an assist on the first goal of the game and the game-winning goal on the second.

Kuznetsov leads all playoff scorers with 27 points (12 goals and 15 assists), just ahead of teammate Alex Ovechkin who is second in scoring with 25 points (14 goals and 11 assists). Washington is 6-3 in its last nine games as a betting favorite according to the OddsShark NHL Database.

Monday night’s total is set at 5.5 goals. The UNDER is 5-1 in Washington’s last six games.

After playing a sloppy game in the series opener of the Stanley Cup final, Washington has taken over this series, beating Vegas at its own game with speed and physicality leading to turnovers and odd-man breaks.

The Capitals have been below .500 at home all postseason after losing their first two games of the playoffs to the Columbus Blue Jackets, but a win Monday would bring the team’s postseason home record up to 6-5.
