College football odds 2018: Betting lines and trends for the top games of Week 2

The TCU Horned Frogs are favored on the road at the SMU Mustangs on Friday night, while Clemson, Georgia, and Stanford are among the Saturday betting chalk.

The TCU Horned Frogs are 6-0 straight up and 3-3 against the spread in their last six games against the SMU Mustangs with an average margin of victory of 27.3 points per game over that stretch. The Horned Frogs will try to make it seven straight wins over the Mustangs with a victory on the road this Friday night.

TCU is a 21-point road favorite on the college football Week 2 odds in University Park at sportsbooks monitored by SMU is 6-1 SU and 5-2 ATS in its last seven games at home but enters this game with an 0-25 SU record in its last 25 games against Big 12 opponents. The Horned Frogs are 6-2 ATS in their last eight games on the road.

Elsewhere, two of the nation’s top teams will also be on the road this weekend as the Clemson Tigers and Georgia Bulldogs look to avoid early-season slip ups.

Clemson is an 11.5-point road favorite on Saturday facing Texas A&M. The Tigers have gotten the job done on the road in recent seasons with a 14-1 SU record in their last 15 road games but have had modest results against the spread with a record of 7-8 over that stretch. Texas A&M is just 1-5 SU and ATS in its last six games against ACC opponents.

Georgia heads into South Carolina as a 9.5-point betting favorite. The Bulldogs have won each of the last three games in this head-to-head series and have done so with an average margin of victory of 20 points per game. South Carolina’s games within the conference tend to be tight as the team has seen the total go UNDER in 14 of its last 18 games against SEC foes.

Also on the schedule in Week 2 is a Pac-12 showdown between the USC Trojans and the Stanford Cardinal (-3.5) in Stanford. Stanford has been excellent in the early stages of seasons under Head Coach Brian Shaw and own a 6-0 SU and 5-1 ATS record in their last six September home games, according to the OddsShark College Football Database. USC meanwhile is just 3-14 ATS in its last 17 September road games.

Other top teams in the nation are comfortable favorites at home this week in Arkansas State at Alabama (-36.5), Rutgers at Ohio State (-35), New Mexico at Wisconsin (-35) and Ball State at Notre Dame (-33.5)
