RALEIGH -- The coaches have been assigned to teams for the 2011 NHL All-Star Game.

Chicago Blackhawks head coach Joel Quenneville will be in charge of Team Staal, the hometown team led by Hurricanes captain Eric Staal, in Sunday's game, Saturday's skills competition and Friday's All-Star Fantasy Draft. He'll be joined by his assistant, Mike Haviland.

Philadelphia Flyers head coach Peter Laviolette and Vancouver Canucks head coach Alain Vigneault will run things on Team Lidstrom, led by future Hall-of-Fame defenseman Nicklas Lidstrom. The coaches were assigned to teams via coin flip on Friday afternoon.

The players will keep most of the autonomy during Friday's draft process, but the coaches will be involved for the rest of the festivities. Quenneville has the honors based on his success last year as the coach of the Stanley Cup Champion Blackhawks. Laviolette and Vigneault earned the honor because their teams entered the midway point of the season with the best record in the Eastern Conference and the Western Conference, respectively.

The final injury replacements have been named, and the 2011 NHL All-Star Game will feature one more hometown boy. Rookie Jeff Skinner of the Carolina Hurricanes will replace one of the injured forwards at the game, as will Colorado forward Paul Stastny. The NHL announced the news on Wednesday afternoon.

Injured All-Stars Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, Ales Hemsky and Tobias Enstrom all have replacements now.

Skinner was already named to the rookie team at the Game. With he and the injured Jordan Eberle off the rookie roster now, the NHL named Montreal defenseman P.K. Subban and yet another hometown kid, Jamie McBain of the Hurricanes, to the rookie roster.

Midway through Friday night's All-Star Draft, the rookies will be split in half. A captain will be named for each group, and they'll select which team they want to join up with. The rookies will help the All-Star teams in Saturday night's Skills Competition.

Add Keith Yandle of the Phoenix Coyotes to the list of 2011 NHL All-Stars. The NHL named Yandle an injury replacement on Tuesday afternoon.

The National Hockey League announced today that Coyotes defenseman Keith Yandle has been selected to participate in the 2011 NHL All-Star Game on Sunday, January 30. This marks Yandle's first career NHL All-Star appearance.

Yandle replaces Atlanta's Tobias Enstrom, the only defenseman that will miss the game with injury, after he broke a finger on his right hand on Sunday vs. New York.

Two replacement spots are still available after Yandle's addition and the addition of Minnesota forward Martin Havlat.

Martin Havlat of the Minnesota Wild has been named an injury replacement for the 2011 NHL All-Star Game, according to TSN's Bob McKenzie. He's 26th in scoring with 43 points, including 13 goals and 30 points on the year.

Havlat's the first injury replacement to be named to the All-Star squad. Danny Briere of the Flyers was named as a replacement late last week, but he's replacing the healthy-but-unable-to-play Jarome Iginla.

Havlat, meanwhile, takes the spot of one of the four injured veteran players who won't be going to Raleigh. Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, Tobias Enstrom and Ales Hemsky are all skipping the game due to various injuries.

Rookie Jordan Eberle of the Edmonton Oilers is also skipping the weekend. He would have participated in the Skills Competition on Saturday night.

Add Tobias Enstrom of the Atlanta Thrashers to the ever-growing list of players who will miss the 2011 NHL All-Star Game with an injury. Enstrom broke his his finger on Sunday in the Thrashers' game against the New York Rangers. This would have been his first All-Star experience.

Via NHL.com:

Enstrom got hit by a shot in Saturday's 3-2 shootout loss to the New York Rangers, but still played a team-high 25:56. However, he did not play on Sunday in a 7-1 loss at Tampa Bay -- the first game he had missed in his four-year NHL career. His franchise record of 294 consecutive games was broken that night.

He is expected to miss between two and four weeks.

Enstrom joins Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, Ales Hemsky and Jordan Eberle as guys who won't be able to play due to injury. Calgary's Jarome Iginla will also miss the game for personal reasons.

Iginla is the only player who's been replaced so far -- by Philadelphia's Danny Briere. The rest of the spots are still open, and there are just three days until Friday's draft.

It was speculated for the better part of the last week, but now we know for sure that Evgeni Malkin's knee injury will keep him from attending the All-Star festivities in Raleigh, N.C. this weekend.

Penguins coach Dan Bylsma announced the news after practice today.

Evgeni Malkin was not out on the ice today and will not be in the game tonight," Bylsma said. "He will also not be going to the All-Star Game this coming week due to the sinus infection, illness - he has symptoms that prevent him from going on the ice at this time. We'll continue to keep him off the ice.

Malkin hasn't played in a week and will miss tonight's game against the New York Islanders, as Bylsma said there in that quote. With he and Crosby out of the game, two of the six fan-selected All-Stars are now out of commission.

No word yet on who will replace any of these injured players.

We knew that Pittsburgh Penguins star Sidney Crosby would skip this year's NHL All-Star Game thanks to lingering concussion problems, but we didn't know whether or not he would travel to Raleigh for the event.

After all, as the NHL's Golden Boy, Crosby is expected to be the face of just about every NHL event, especially when that event is highlighting the league's star players. In 2009, Crosby traveled to Montreal for the All-Star Weekend despite missing the Game with a different injury.

This year, Crosby's not even going to bother. Via the team:

Sidney Crosby will not attend NHL All-Star Weekend festivities in Raleigh Jan. 28-30 while he continues to recover from a concussion, the Pittsburgh Penguins announced today.

"Sidney is making progress in his recovery but still is not completely symptom-free," General Manager Ray Shero said in making the announcement. "The Penguins organization has decided that he will not attend the NHL All-Star Weekend and instead will continue to relax and recuperate in the hopes of returning to our lineup soon."

Crosby will miss his ninth straight game Tuesday when the Penguins host the New York Islanders at CONSOL Energy Center. He has not been cleared to resume physical activity.

It's expected that Crosby's line mate, Evgeni Malkin, will skip the All-Star Game with an injury of his own.
