Wayne Rooney Stuns Football World By Committing Future To United Until 2015

It seems as soon as it all began, so too did it quickly end. In the week that was dominated by the Wayne Rooney saga, Friday sees the end of the Manchester City, Chelsea and Real Madrid hype as Rooney today has committed his future to the Red Devils by signing a new and improved five year deal.

While death threats and graffiti played out during the night, Rooney and his camp were obviously inching closer to a deal that would see the England International put pen to paper to earn an astonishing £180,000 per week at United.

While the out of form striker flip-flopped on his early week statements, comments in which he stated his desire to leave the club due to United's 'lack of ambition', it seems only now as the dust settles, Rooney and agent Paul Stretford were biding their time and leveraging the club for a higher wage packet.

In a statement released to the press, Rooney states his understanding of the gravity of the situation as it pertains to the club and the fans.

"I'm sure the fans over the last week have felt let down by what they've read and seen, but my position was from concern over the future. The fans have been brilliant with me since I arrived and it's up to me through my performances to win them over again".

"I'm delighted to sign another deal at United. In the last couple of days, I've talked to the manager and the owners and they've convinced me this is where I belong. I said on Wednesday the manager's a genius and it's his belief and support that have convinced me to stay".

"I'm signing a new deal in the absolute belief that the management, coaching staff, board and owners are totally committed to making sure United maintains its proud winning history – which is the reason I joined the club in the first place".

While Rooney now surely faces a long and arduous up hill battle to regain his form from last season and to win back fans, United supporters across the globe breathe a sigh of relief as their talisman has pledged his future at United.
