Fulham Vs. West Ham United: Carlton Cole's Second Gives Hammers Two Goal Cushion

West Ham is up 3-1 at Craven Cottage, with Carlton Cole's second of the match giving the Hammers the two goal leader in the 73rd minute. A left-footed half-volley from the England international beat Mark Schwarzer to his far post, putting West Ham on the brink of their third victory of the season.

The goal came after a long ball played from the Hammer's back line was challenged by Freeric Piquionne, Aaron Hughes and John Pantsil. The ball appeared to come off Hughes head, deflection toward the byline, with Cole first to the ball at the left side of Mark Schwarzer's six yard box. The striker's first touch on the half-volley was a left-footed shot far post, being the Fulham `keeper, completing his brace.

Should the result hold, West Ham will temporarily climb out of the table's bottom spot, with pressure sure to mount on Fulham's Mark Hughes. The Cottage boss has only two wins in 17 this season. A lot at home to the league's bottom side will heighten concerns about his job.
